icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for creating a reserve list for the position of Study Nurse and other positions with similar grade and nature of work. This reserve list will remain valid for next 1 (one) year. The upcoming vacancies of Study Nurse and other positions (with similar grade and nature of work) of all Divisions will be filled in from this pool.Applications from women and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged.The appointment will be made on any contract types as per the requirement of the project which may be renewed further depending on the performance and availability of funds.
Job Profile:The position holder will be mainly responsible for receive, register, examine, provide treatment to the patients, sample/data collection of study participants. with the objective of providing nursing care and supporting research studies within the guidelines of project-protocol and organizational values and guidelines. The major areas of responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Take and record vital signs, body weight and intake and output, and prepare patient census;
  • Attend round and follow doctor(s) order and plan, implement and evaluate nursing intervention(s);
  • Perform various nursing or medical procedures, such oropharyngeal suction, oxygen therapy, and various fluid administration;
  • Operate medical equipment, e.g., ECG Machine, Infusion Pump, Cardiac Monitor, Suction Machine, Blood Glucose Meter, Syringe Pump, Ventilator, Warmer, etc;
  • Screening and work with physicians during enrollment of study participants following the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the protocol;
  • Assessment of study participants and perform roster duties that include night duties;
  • Maintain intake and output chart of patients/study participants;
  • Regular monitoring of the study participants with follow-up of the patients up to discharge;
  • Provide proper nursing care to the study patients.
  • Maintain records of all research related data in appropriate form;
  • Coordination with Physicians/Investigators in research related activities including sample collection and send out for laboratory tests;
  • Maintain log book of study subjects, samples & maintain proper chart;
  • Supervise the activities of the health worker and work in good collaboration with study physician.
  • Ensure infection control practice and the security of the ward/unit comply with Health & Safety measures;
  • Ensure patient record confidentiality, practice best Nursing Ethics and Code of Conduct.

Requirements:Education and Relevant Experience:

  • Diploma in Nursing Science and Midwifery/BSc in Nursing/Diploma in Midwifery with valid registration from the Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council (BNMC).
  • Practical working experience in related field.

Functional/Technical Competencies:

  • Nursing Practices and Procedures;
  • Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment;
  • Counselling, Motivating and Interviewing patients/study participants;
  • Infection Control & Bio-hazard management;
  • Sample/Data collection, processing, store, transportation;
  • IT Systems and Standard Applications (GPS, GIS, smart phone, computer, internet, Tab, PDA, MS Office etc).

Duty station: Anywhere in Bangladesh as per project’s requirement.Salary: Short Term – Monthly (CSA) – Tk. 31,000/- per month;Short Term – Daily (Daily Wage) – Tk. 1,192/- per day.
